The Beam concept is a result of an observation during field research of bicycling in the city: Bicycles are more visible than their riders when it's dark. It''s true that bicycles are beautiful machines, and they deserve to be spotlighted like the handsome objects they are. However, people operating bicycles are also pretty (and mostly, priceless), and they might benefit significantly more from being the focus of attention when riding. Why shouldn't the bicycle rider be the focus of accident-avoiding attention on urban streets?
Beam is a bicycle accessory focused on making the human the most visible element in the rider-machine system. Aimed at the rider's back, beam spotlights the rider in a more visible way than currently available technologies. The beam system can be adapted several ways, and can be attached to any bicycle.
